Irish actress Ruth Negga and Coleraine star James Nesbitt are among the talent up for an award at tonight’s Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) awards.

Nesbitt was given the nod for his portrayal of dentist-turned murderer Colin Howell in the ITV mini series The Secret.

Co Down-born actor Jamie Dornan is also in the running for his latest movie The Siege of Jadotville and Colm Meaney for The Journey, the story of former First Minister Ian Paisley’s relationship with deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness. Game of Thrones star Liam Cunningham is also up for an award for his role in the HBO drama, which is mostly filmed in Northern Ireland. Negga’s nominations are for her roles in the film Loving and US TV series Preacher.

The IFTA Film & Drama Awards will take place at the Round Room of the Mansion House, Dublin and will be broadcast on RTÉ One.
